An ‘Olive’ Hand To The Community

By Olive Limited

Olive Limited CSR’s program seeks to solve needs affecting communities in different ways. One of such needs is water scarcity. In the area of Saikeli, Ngong Kajiado county for example, this precious commodity had been a challenge for some time.

Members of the community here would walk long distances to quench their thirst or even that of their animals. Olive Limited identified this need and committed to get a permanent solution for it.

Need for a water

“When Olive Limited introduced our projects in Ngong area in 2019, ours was not just a plan to sell land for profit, but also get solutions for challenges that faced the community or investors who would settle there. One of the challenges that we noted was the need for a water point at Saikeli,” explains Gitau, Olive Limited Director.

Consequently, in 2021 through our CSR initiative, Olive embarked on a project to construct a water point and a storage tank for the community. The storage tanks have promoted water harvesting for sustainable livelihoods for the welfare of the community.

Hand of love to members of the Ol Maroroi

Over time, other programs have also been carried out in the area by Olive. For example, In October 2021, senior members of the community were gifted with blankets. In December of the same year, Olive Limited extended a hand of love to members of the Ol Maroroi Community in Kajiado West.

Food items

During this occasion, over 50 needy families received assorted food items such as cooking oil, rice, maize and wheat flour as well as cash. “Through this gesture, members of the community would not hide their joy as we put a smile on their face during the festivities,” says Gitau.

Gitau says that Olive is committed to continue undertaking CSR activities for the benefit of the community. This, he adds, fosters good community relations and is a way of giving back to the society.
